For testing the effect of cooling the SXV guider the camera was used in a 4" f4.5 refractor.  First the dark frames taken at 1.1 4 and 8 sec can be compared.  In each case the uncooled version is on the left and the cooled on the right.  The frames are are scaled identically.

4 second dark

8 second dark

Next the light frames.  These are not dark corrected.  The reason for not dark correcting is that its not practical to cover the guide scope at the start of every image to make a dark when using maxim and ACP.

The guide scope was aimed at a 7 mag star.  A picture of the field with some mag included is here.

4 second light

8 second light

Again the comparisons are uncooled on left and cooled on right.  Images are scaled to show all stars recorded.

Next some thoughts and conclusions.
